The Verge has an article that gives you a quick start to creating a fully fledged Android app using Google Maps.
You’ll need to start with an app called Phi Beta Kappa, which is basically a mapping application with a little bit of an extra layer.
Phi is based on Google Maps’ beta platform, so you’ll have to learn it if you want to use it with Google Maps on your phone.
Phiwo is a free app that you can download to your phone, though the developers say you can upgrade to a paid version at a later date.
The Phiwos app will work on the Google Play Store and the Google Developers Channel, but it’s a pretty big step to get started with.
We’ll cover that in more detail in a future article.
If you want more details on how the app works, check out our Phiwon walkthrough.
